Fewer ‘Yellow Vest’ Protesters Gather Across France

PARIS—Protesters turned out across France for a fifth successive weekend but in smaller numbers than previously, suggesting a shift in the intensity of an antigovernment movement that has forced concessions from President Emmanuel Macron.

France’s Interior Ministry said 66,000 protesters wearing yellow reflective vests—or “gilets jaunes”—took part in demonstrations across the country, less than half the number counted a week earlier.
